Jim
Immediately after graduating with a business degree from the University of Alberta in 1984, Jim and Jane moved to Europe where Jim played professional basketball. Returning to Canada, Jim obtained an M.B.A. from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and went on to work on Bay Street as an investment banker, becoming a Vice-President at a large national investment dealer. In 1992 they left the security of a steady pay cheque to invest in a small food manufacturing company in B.C. Jim is now the CEO. The company has been named one of Canada’s best managed companies and been listed as one of Canada’s 100 fastest growing companies a total of four times. Jim was named one of B.C.’s “Top 40 under 40” business achievers in 1997.
Jane
A former Miss Teen Edmonton and first runner-up Miss Teen Canada, Jane married her high school sweetheart and was a fitness instructor and travel industry professional before becoming a stay-at home mom to their three children. Over the years she has served as President of a chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, a philanthropic women’s organization, has acted as President of a local chapter of Canadian Parents for French, an organization dedicated to promoting French language in Canadian schools, and has been involved in numerous parent teacher organizations. She has been voted “World’s Best Mom” on a number of occasions by each of her three children.
