A gift of wisdom and inspiration for the high school graduate
Welcome to our website!
The idea for this book began as our oldest approached her high school graduation. We asked ourselves: as parents, have we done everything possible to help our daughter make it in the “real world”? Has she heard the messages we tried to convey over the years? School had taught her the three Rs, but had she learned our life lessons while growing up?
With two other soon-to-graduate teenagers, we decided to write a “life after high school” reference book – a guide to help them navigate the complicated world they will face after graduation. In our minds, the high school textbooks provided the book smarts; Turtle on a Fence Post will help with the “life smarts.”
Why 365 lessons? Because it is important to learn something new every day.
Each lesson is short – it can be read quickly over breakfast or during a study break.
A theme for each day of the week: Monday’s message is motivational; Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s are hints for advancing a career. Thursday’s and Friday’s are general life lessons. Saturday’s focus is on social aspects, while Sunday’s spiritual guidance comes from many religions, philosophers and teachers.
